MedAsia in the CMEF 2023: Showcasing Innovation in Healthcare
In May 2023, MedAsia exhibited at the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF), where we introduced new home-health products to customers and joined industry forums on topics from home blood pressure monitoring to AI in healthcare. Here is a recap of the fair, our products on display, and the key discussions we followed.
Key Takeaways
- MedAsia presented its Portable ECG Monitor, a reusable digital pregnancy and ovulation test, and the MPM-101 Cholesterol Meter.
- Forums covered Omron's home blood pressure monitoring program in Shanghai, AI applications such as ChatGPT, and medical robotics.
- We met partners from around the world, many of whom traveled a long way to meet us in person.
About CMEF
CMEF was launched in 1979 and is held twice a year, in spring and autumn, with both exhibitions and forums. After more than 40 years of development, it is China's largest and most professional medical fair.
The fair covers more than ten thousand products and services, including:
- Smart healthcare and wearable equipment
- Medical optical and electro-medical devices
- Medical imaging and medical examination
- In-vitro diagnostics (IVD)
- Hospital construction

Scale of the Fair
As of 2023, more than 7,000 medical device manufacturers from over 30 countries and regions exhibited their products and services at CMEF each year. The fair also brought together about 2,000 specialists and nearly 200,000 visitors and buyers, including government procurement agencies, hospital buyers, and dealers from over 100 countries and regions.
CMEF Sub-Brands
CMEF has also built a series of influential sub-brands in the medical field, including:
- International Component Manufacturing and Design Show (ICMD)
- CMEF Congress
- CMEF Imaging
- CMEF IVD
- CMEF Indonesia
- CMEF Beijing
- Intelligent Health China
- Beijing International Rehabilitation and Personal Health Show
Together, these events have helped drive the growth of intelligent medical equipment across the industry.
New Products We Showcased
The exhibition gave us a valuable opportunity to present our new products to customers in person.
Portable ECG Monitor
Our Portable ECG Monitor can be held in both hands like a smartphone, making it easy for users to check their electrocardiogram (ECG) as part of daily health tracking.
Reusable Digital Pregnancy and Ovulation Test
One device for both family planning needs. This reusable digital test combines pregnancy and ovulation detection, giving users a more complete solution in a single product.
MPM-101 Cholesterol Meter
The MPM-101 Cholesterol Meter reduces the need for frequent hospital visits and laboratory equipment. It is designed for both home self-testing and clinical use.
The positive feedback we received at the fair reinforced our confidence in the quality and innovation of these products.

Forums and Summits at CMEF 2023
Forums and conferences ran throughout the exhibition, featuring technology demonstrations and business exchanges. Below are some of the sessions that stood out to us.
Omron: Home Blood Pressure Monitoring in China
Omron shared its methods and case studies for developing the Chinese market.

At the time, Omron reported that its home blood pressure monitoring service had entered a pilot fee-based program in Shanghai's healthcare system. This was an important step toward bringing its products into China's healthcare insurance system, and a useful reference for others in the industry.

Omron also highlighted its Home Blood Pressure Monitoring (HBPM) technology. The Omron Plus app pairs with the blood pressure monitor and offers:
- Data visualization
- Family member management
- Regular reports
- Point accumulation and gift redemption
Long-term home blood pressure monitoring helps hypertensive patients track fluctuations, identify morning or nighttime hypertension, evaluate medication effectiveness, and manage cardiovascular risk.
AI and ChatGPT in Healthcare

Speakers also discussed the prospects of artificial intelligence, including ChatGPT, in the medical field.
As AI advances, combining tools like ChatGPT with digital health platforms and robotics could transform remote patient monitoring, telehealth services, and even robotic-assisted surgery.

Beyond clinical use, ChatGPT may also support healthcare-focused podcasts and LinkedIn groups by providing insights, answering questions, and encouraging collaboration among industry experts.
What This Means
New AI use cases will keep emerging in healthcare. Staying informed helps healthcare professionals evaluate how these tools can support their practice and improve patient care.
Medical Robotics

Exhibitors also demonstrated medical robots used in orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures, one of many presentations that drew strong interest from attendees.
